The Carolina Panthers are listening to trade offers for Pro Bowl running back Christian McCaffrey, according to a report from ESPN’s David Newton.
Newton does note that the Panthers aren’t “shopping McCaffrey” but would consider it if they were offered a first-round pick and another player without a big salary-cap number.
The 25-year-old running back has four years remaining on his contract that was extended last offseason, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history, with an yearly-salary of $16 million. His cap hit in 2022 is set to $14.3 million and jumps to $17.7 million the next two seasons.
The Panthers currently have $26,529,771 in cap space, according to league data.
