REPORT: Two Surprise Teams Could Be Interested In Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield’s tenure in Cleveland is over after the team traded for Deshaun Watson.

The former first overall pick is playing on his fifth-year option, making him too expensive to keep on the roster if he isn’t going to play. And Mayfield has since made it clear that he’d like to be traded elsewhere.

The Steelers were reported to be interested in Mayfield should he hit the free agent market. But now, a couple of other teams have emerged as contenders for Baker’s services. According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson the Titans and Bucs could be interested in the former Heisman Trophy winner.

Tennessee is seen as a viable option due to there being an exit from Ryan Tannehill after next season. If Tannehill were to have a bad season in 2022, Mayfield would certainly be an intriguing option.

Robinson also notes Tampa Bay as a possibility, given the fact that the Buccaneers may likely only have one more year of Tom Brady behind center. Whether that be via a second retirement, or wanting to wear another uniform.
