Minnesota Vikings Defensive Tackle ‘Ready To Go’ After Getting Shot Four Times And Missing Entire 2021 Season

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman saw the start of his NFL career put on hold after he was shot four times last June in his hometown of Washington, D.C.

The Vikings drafted Twyman with in the sixth-round of the 2021 NFL Draft and was placed on the Vikings’ non-football injury list. But now, the 22-year-old is reportedly ready to go and get back on the field.

In a text message shared with Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, Twyman’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said the defensive tackle is “fully-recovered” from his injuries and will be with the team as their offseason program gets underway Monday.

When Twyman eventually does return to the gridiron, it’ll be his first football action since 2019. The Pitt product opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, meaning his last snaps came as a sophomore on the Panthers D-line.

In that year, Jaylen Twyman recorded 10.5 sacks on his way to second-team All-American and first-team All-ACC honors.
