REPORT: There’s ‘Growing Chatter’ Of A Surprise Prospect Being No. 1 Overall Pick In 2022 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is less than three weeks away and there is growing speculation that Michigan’s Aiden Hutchinson might not be the No. 1 overall pick.

Hutchinson is seen by many as the best overall player in this draft, but the Jaguars could go in a different direction. Mike Garafolo has heard the same chatter as Peter Schrager that Travon Walker could go first overall.

Garafolo is also reporting that Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke sees a lot of Aldon Smith in Walker.

Walker is a standout defensive lineman out of the University of Georgia, who had a breakout season in 2021. He finished the year with 37 total tackles, six sacks, one fumble recovery and two passes deflected.

The Jaguars would need to make sure they’re getting this right since Hutchinson was even better than Walker in 2021. He finished the season with 62 total tackles (36 solo), 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and three passes defended.
