REPORT: Panthers Are ‘Eyeing’ Sean Payton To Eventually Become Their Head Coach

Sean Payton’s options keep growing.

The Carolina Panthers are reportedly eyeing the Super Bowl winning head coach as the coach would can eventually take over as the team’s head coach, according to Front Office Sports.

The Panthers are willing to wait a year while the former New Orleans Saints head coach looks to take a year off. Matt Rhule is currently entering his third season as the head coach of the Panthers.

The 58-year-old Payton is also being courted by various TV networks including FOX Sports and Amazon. He could serve as either studio analyst for Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage or as a game/studio analyst for Fox.

Many people expect Payton’s retirement to be short with him eventually returning to the sidelines in 2023-24.
