If the San Francisco 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo were unable to come to an agreement on a reconstructed contract this summer, the Los Angeles Rams were “lurking as possible destination” for the veteran quarterback, Adam Schefter reports:
Jimmy G was unaware that the defending Super Bowl champions were looking to sign him and the 49ers weren’t aware of the Rams’ interest until after they agreed on a new contract with him, Schefter reports
The Rams were looking to sign Garoppolo as an insurance policy and legitimate backup to Matt Stafford, who has been dealing an elbow issue all offseason.
