Ben Roethlisberger Has “Thoughts” About Coming Out Of Retirement To Join 49ers

It sure sounds like Ben Roethlisberger is making a recruitment pitch to the San Francisco 49ers.

The retired former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback recently said that he’s “thought about” coming out of retirement to join the NFC juggarnaunt following the season-ending injury to Jimmy Garoppolo.

“I thought about it,” Roethlisberger said on his “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” podcast. “That team is one of the better teams in football and that defense is really stinking good and they did it with Purdy.”

When Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a season-ending injury, many assumed the 49ers would be willing to add an experienced quarterback but that hasn’t been the case as Brock Purdy was spectacular in his first start. It’s clear the team believes in him as they showed zero interest in Baker Mayfield when he was waived by the Carolina Panthers.

So far the team has shown zero interest in adding a quarterback but if they do, Big Ben sounds like he wants them to call him.
