Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers Takes Full Responsibility For Failed Lateral On Final Play Of Game: “Trying To Play Hero Ball”

One of the craziest endings to a game happened on Sunday in Las Vegas when the Raiders beat the Patriots, 30-24, on the final play of the game.

Patriots were looking to run a final play and decided to lateral the football around. Well, that failed miserably as Pats WR Jakobi Meyers had his lateral picked off by Chandler Jones, who returned it back for a touchdown.

After the game, Meyers, to his credit, took full responsibility for the horrible mistake, saying he was trying to play “hero-ball”:

Jakobi Meyers said the plan was to run the ball and go into overtime. Said he was ‘trying to be a hero.’
