Bucs Reporter Demanded Gio Bernard To Speak To Media During Awkward Exchange After Loss vs Bengals

Buccaneers running back Giovani Bernard botched a fake punt in his team’s loss to the Bengals on Sunday after he failed to handle the direct snap from center on a designed play.

After the game, Bernard was sought after by reporters but after he attempted to shun the media, Bernard was confronted by reporters in a very awkward exchange.

According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, Bernard said, “Oh now you guys want to talk to me.” One reporter can be heard asking, “What have you done for us to talk to you about all year?”

Bernard only has played in five games this season due to an ankle injury, and Laine could be heard saying, “You were injured all year!” Players who are on injured reserve are not made available to reporters, she later said in a tweet.

On Monday, Laine explained in a series of tweets that players who are on the injured reserve don’t speak to the media; Bernard was on the IR dealing with an ankle injury:

The Bucs fell to 6-8 on the season in large part because of the four turnovers in the second half. The will travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals next week.
