REPORT: Dolphins Could Fire Mike McDaniel If They Lose To Jets And Miss Playoffs

Every year there’s one or two coaches that surprisingly get fired but this would be egregious.

According to Armando Salguero of Outback, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, GM Chris Grier and defensive coordinator Josh Boyers are at risk of losing their jobs if the Miami Dolphins lose to the New York Jets in Week 18 and miss the playoffs:

This would be pretty shocking but let’s not forget, last year Stephen Ross had a plan of hiring Sean Payton and signing Tom Brady before that plan was scrapped due to the Brian Flores lawsuit. It’s pretty evident that Mike McDaniel wasn’t their first option (or maybe not their second).

Nonetheless, Mike McDaniel has done a good job with the Dolphins and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins season has imploded after an 8-3 start; they are 8-8 and could lose their sixth straight on Sunday against the New York Jets. With Tua out after getting another concussion, the Dolphins could turn to Teddy Bridgewater or Skyler Thompson.
