REPORT: Bears Will Move Forward With Justin Fields As Franchise QB & Look To Trade No. 1 Pick In 2023 Draft

The Chicago Bears have reportedly made a decision on their quarterback position.

The Bears, who have the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, have ruled out drafting a quarterback with the pick and will move forward with Justin Fields as their franchise quarterback. The team will now look to trade the coveted pick in hopes of acquiring multiple picks that will help them build around Fields.

Fields did have a very good season in 2022. The Ohio State product passed for 2,242 yards while completing 60.4 percent of his passes, throwing for 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Fields did a lot of damage on the ground, rushing for a league-leading 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns.

During his season-ending press conference, Bears GM Ryan Poles said he would need to be ‘wowed’ by a prospect to part with Fields and while there’s still a lot of time remaining before April’s 2023 NFL Draft, it looks like the team is moving forward with Fields.
