Bodycam footage of Georgia football star and NFL Draft prospect Jalen Carter during his interaction with police on the night of the fatal car crash in Athens, GA has been released.
The footage shows that Carter denied racing when police directly asked him.
Carter also struggled to determine exactly how far behind he was to the car police claim he was racing before the accident:
Carter has been considered a consensus top-5 in the 2023 NFL Draft and was in the consideration for the No. 1 overall pick prior to the Chicago Bears trading the pick.
But his draft stock took a hit after police issued a warrant for his arrest relating to the fatal car accident in January that killed Georgia football player Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy.
Authorities in Athens, Ga., issued an arrest warrant for Carter on March 1 on charges of racing and reckless driving in relation to the crash.
He posted bond and was released the same day.
Soon after, reports emerged that Carter will not serve any jail time after entering a plea deal and will receive 12 months of probation, pay a $1,000 fine, and perform 80 hours of community service.
