The Atlanta Falcons are suffering a major blow to their secondary.
Early in practice Friday morning, newly-acquired cornerback Jeff Okudah suffered a lower leg injury and was carted off the field.
Okudah is competing for a starting job in the secondary opposite A.J. Terrell, his 2020 draft classmate.
While Terrell was taken with the No. 16 pick, Okudah was selected at No. 3 by the Detroit Lions. After three up-and-down seasons with the Lions, Detroit traded him to Atlanta for a fifth-rounder in the 2023 draft.
Okudah played in 15 games in 2022 and had one interception, which he ran back for a touchdown. The former Ohio State Buckeye also set career-highs in tackles (73) and passes defended (7).
