It was a rough day for the Williams family.
The Philadelphia Eagles released cornerback Greedy Williams on Saturday morning and a few hours later, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced that they were releasing Greedy’s brother, Rodarius Williams:
Greedy Williams was drafted in the second round (46th overall) by the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was a star cornerback at LSU, earning First-Team All SEC selections in 2018 and 2018. Unfortunately, injuries derailed Greedy’s tenure with the Browns. He was limited to 39 games over his four-year tenure with the club, missing the entire 2020 campaign with a shoulder injury.
Greedy’s best season with the Browns came in 2021, when he made eight starts and finished with two interceptions, 10 pass defenses and one forced fumble. The Browns opted not to bring him back after his rookie deal expired, and Greedy wound up signing with the Eagles in March.
Rodarius, who’s the older brother, was drafted in the sixth round (201st overall) by the New York Giants back in 2021. The former Oklahoma State standout started eight games over two years with the organization, recording just one interception, two pass defenses and 16 combined tackles.
Both are subject to waivers before becoming free agents.
