Refs Call Jets For Weak Holding Penalty While Missing An Obvious Holding Penalty On Chiefs

Man, oh man this is was bad.

On 3rd and 20, Patrick Mahomes threw up a ball for Marquez Valdes-Scantling but it was intercepted by Michael Carter II. The ball was supposed to go back to the Jets but the referees threw a flag and called Sauce Gardner for a very questionable holding penalty that negated the interception and gave the Chiefs a gifts down.

It gets worse.

A few plays later, the Chiefs were facing a 3rd and 22. Somehow, Patrick Mahomes converted by scrambling and getting a first down but the big play shouldn’t have happened after the referees missed a pretty obvious holding penalty on Chiefs’ left tackle Donovan Smith.

How does one get called but the other one doesn’t?

Horrible officiating that ultimately cost the Jets an opportunity to try and win the game. The Chiefs were able to pick up a first down and run out the clock.

Chiefs won the game, 23-20 and are now 3-1 while the Jets fell to 1-3.
