Chase Young Said Commanders Didn’t Tell Him About Trade To 49ers, Found Out Through Social Media

The Washington Commanders were pretty busy during the NFL Trade Deadline last Tuesday, trading both Montez Sweat and Chase Young before the 4 p.m. eastern time deadline.

Unfortunately, when they were orchestrating the trade with the 49ers for Young, they didn’t keep him in the loop. In fact, they didn’t even tell him that he was being traded.

Meeting with the Bay Area reporters for the first time, the 24-year-old Young revealed that he found out he was traded to San Francisco on social media just like everybody else.

Yikes – that’s not a good look for the Washington Commanders.

Washington declined his fifth-year option for 2024 so Young can be a free agent in the offseason (barring a tag).

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft will now be tasked to help the 49ers stop their three-game losing streak after they started the year 5-0.
