Derek Barnett’s time in Philadelphia is over.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles are waiving the disgruntled pass rusher ahead of their Week 12 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Barnett missed last week’s win over Kansas City for personal reasons, and he had yet to practice this week while remaining away from the team.
Barnett, 27, was a first-round pick by the Eagles in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he’s been solid, logging 21.5 sacks over his seven-year career.
Moving on from Barnett will allow rookie pass rusher Nolan Smith to see more reps on the edge.
