Chicago Bears defensive back Kyler Gordon was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct during Week 12’s Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings after the officials spotted him removing his helmet following an interception by Bears safety Jaylon Johnson.
Replay showed Gordon’s face mask literally role during the play and Gordon had no choice but to remove the the helmet. But the referees didn’t care and still penalized for it despite him lifting the helmet into the air to show that it was broken.
Chicago was still penalized 15 yards.
In fact, the official even went as far as to double down on his decision by changing the penalty from unsportsmanlike conduct to taunting.
