The Tim Boyle era in New York is over.
According to NFL Insider Rosina Anderson, the New York Jets are cutting Boyle after he was benched in Sunday’s loss against the Atlanta Flacons.
Boyle completed 14 of 25 passes for 148 yards and an interception in the 13-8 loss. The are also signing Brett Rypien off the Seattle Seahawks practice squad:
The Jets named Boyle the starting quarterback three weeks ago after benching Zach Wilson. Boyle started the Black Friday game against the Miami Dolphins and last Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
Both were an unmitigated disaster.
The Jets have also yet to name a starter for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. A report surfaced on Monday indicating that the team wants to go back to Zach Wilson but the former No. 2 overall pick is “reluctant” to take back the starting job due to fear of injury.
The New York Jets, despite having an amazing defense, remain one of the biggest laughing stocks in the National Football League.
