REPORT: Patriots Want Jerod Mayo To Be Next Head Coach

The New England Patriots have officially parted ways with Bill Belichick this Thursday after 24 years and while are expected to have a head-coaching search, they have already zeroed in on Belichick’s successor.

According to Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports, the Patriots want Jerod Mayo to be Belichick’s successor.

“The indications that I’ve gotten is that Jerod Mayo will be the successor to Bill,” Curran said. “That will be an interesting aspect of this press conference today. I don’t know if it’ll be mentioned or handled in a separate press conference.”

Mayo has been on New England’s staff since 2019. He knows all about “The Patriot Way” considering he played for the franchise from 2008-2015.
