Baker Mayfield is staying in Tampa.
According to Ian Rapport of NFL Network, Mayfield and the Buccaneers have agreed on a three-year contract extension that could be worth up to $115 million. The contract also guarantees Mayfield $50 million.
Mayfield and the Buccaneers were the most surprising team of the 2023 season, winning the NFC South and knocking off the defending NFC Champions, Philadelphia Eagles, in the NFC Wild Card Game.
Mayfield was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and despite some early success, his tenure ended when he was traded to the Carolina Panthers. In Carolina, Mayfield was benched and ended up being released midway through the 2022 season. He signed with the Rams that year and after the season signed a 1-year deal with the Buccaneers.
The success in Tampa has led the Bucs to commit to Mayfield for the next 2-3 years.
