Recently, the NFL loosened a lot of its uniform numbers allowing players to wear a variety of numbers depending on what position they play. One chang was the ability for players to wear No. 0 and for the first time ever, it will be worn by a quarterback.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota will be wearing the No. 0 jersey for the team in 2024.
Before 2023, less than 20 players in NFL history wore No. 0 and none had done so since the merger of the AFL-NFL. Now, Mariota will become the first quarterback to do so.
The only question is, will he start any games for the Washington Commanders in 2024? The team is slated to have the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and are widely regarded to be selecting a quarterback. Will that quarterback sit behind Mariota for a few games or will Mariota be the backup to that rookie.
