Jake Bates is off to an insane start to his United Football League (UFL) career.
Last week, Bates led the Michigan Panthers to victory by draining a 64-yard field goal in the final seconds. What made the kick so impressive was the fact that it was his first field goal attempt since high school.
A week later, Bates did it again.
During Sunday’s game between the Panthers and Birmingham Stallions, Bates nailed a 62-yard field goal to close out the first half.
Here’s a look at the kick, via the UFL:
Bates was a soccer play at Central Arkansas before focusing on kickoffs at Texas State and Arkansas. He signed with the Houston Texans last summer but didn’t make the 53-man roster out of training camp.
Something tells me Bates’ phone will be ringing off the hooks from NFL teams looking for his services.
