Christian McCaffrey is the best running back in the NFL and the 49ers continue to pay him like it.
On Tuesday, the 49ers and McCaffrey has agreed to a two-year, $38 million extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. McCaffrey is under contract until he turns 31 years old, was already the NFL’s highest paid running back.
In 2020, when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers, McCaffrey signed a four-year, $64 million contract extension the 49ers picked up when they traded for him during the 2022 season.
McCaffrey is coming off a year where he posted 2,023 yards from scrimmage and 21 total touchdowns. The 49ers acquired McCaffrey from the Panthers during the 2022 deadline for a 2023 second, third and fourth-round picks.
As for other 49ers news, Brandon Aiyuk remains without an extension.
