Aaron Rodgers made some headlines this offseason (not surprising) when he skipped out on the Jets mandatory minicamp in an absence that head coach Robert Saleh told reporters was ‘unexcused.’
We now know what it was for… and it doesn’t actual make Rodgers’ absence look any better.
Per SNYTV’s Connor Hughes, Rodgers had a planned trip to Egypt the same week as the minicamp and while he was in attendance for Phase 1 of OTAs, Rodgers missed a week of Phase 2 but attended every OTA practice.
Hughes added to his report that the Jets were aware of the trip and don’t think it will have an impact on the season, but also said it was not “communicated initially.”
Now back with the team, the Rodgers will look to continue his comeback from a torn Achilles suffered during the first offensive drive of the Jets’ season in 2023. The four-time MVP was sidelined the rest of the year following the injury.
