REPORT: Patriots DT Christian Barmore Diagnosed With Blood Clots, Out Indefinitely

The New England Patriots defense just lost an important piece.

The team announced that star defensive tackle Christian Barmore has been diagnosed with blood clots over the weekend and is out indefinitely with no timetable for a return.

Barmore’s agent, Nicole Lynn, took to Twitter to praise New England trainer Jim Whalen for his care of the veteran over the last several days.

The news comes at the worst time for the Patriots, who signed Barmore to a four-year, $84 million contract extension.

Barmore was a second-round pick for the Patriots in 2021 and has emerged as a leader on the defense. He tallied 64 tackles, 16 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks in 17 games in 2023 despite making just six starts.
