After resolving the Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation last week, the San Francisco 49ers turned their attention to left tackle Trent Williams in hopes of getting him back in the building ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets.
And it looks like they’ve got it done.
According to multiple reports including Williams’ agent, the left tackle is finalizing a new deal with the 49ers and returned to the Bay Arena on Monday night to rejoin the team.
Williams had skipped all of training camp and preseason as he awaited for a resolution to his contract. The superstar left tackle has three years remaining on the six-year, $138.1 million deal he signed in March 2021, but there is no guaranteed money left on the deal.
Williams is entering his fifth season with the 49ers. He has been named to the All-Pro first team in each of the past three years.
The 49ers will host the Jets at Levi’s Stadium on Sept. 9 in the first Monday Night Football game of the season.
