If there’s someone that knows what’s its like being a quarterback in New York, it’s WFAN radio host and former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason. In his 14 NFL seasons, Esiason played for five head coaches, ranging from legends like Sam Wyche and Pete Carroll to Rich Kotite and David Shula.
Esiason said on Monday that, in taking a close look at the state of the relationship between veteran Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh, he could some “major issues.”
Following the Jets’ 10-9 loss to the Broncos at home, Robert Saleh pointed out in his postgame press conference that the Jets had 13 penalties, including five false starts. Saleh pointed to Rodgers’ signature use of the hard count, which is supposed to throw off defenses.
Instead, it threw off the Jets’ offensive line, causing Rodgers to clap back in his Sunday press conference that Saleh could improve the situation by holding the linemen “accountable” for false starts.
The Jets (2-2) will travel to London to take on the Minnesota Vikings, who are undefeated. A loss across the pond will already make a tense situation even worse.
