Woody Johnson is such a bad owner, it’s starting to get hilarious.
According to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, Dianna Russini and Michael Silver, an offseason trade between the New York Jets and Denver Broncos for Jerry Jeudy was vetoed by Johnson because he felt the wide receiver’s Madden rating “wasn’t high enough” to make the deal.
Per the report, Johnson’s teenage sons, Brick and Jack, played a role in involving the Madden ratings in nixing this trade. The report also adds that Johnson began including his teenage sons in some meetings and the team’s facility after his tenure as ambassador to the United Kingdom during Donald Trump’s first Presidential administration.
Johnson purchased the franchise in 2000 and since then the Jets have just 172 wins, which are the eight-fewest in the NFL. They also hold the longest playoff drought in league at 14-years.
