Eagles Fan That Was On Life Support After Horrific Fall During NFC Champ. Game Celebration Has Died

After the Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC Championship Game last Sunday, thousands of fans took to Broad Street in downtown Philly to celebrate. Several fans decided to climb light posts and unfortunately, one fan suffered a horrific fall that required him to be hospitalized.

It was reported on Monday that an 18-year-old was on life support after falling from a light pole. He was transported to Jefferson Hospital. Footage of him falling actually surfaced on social media. We won’t be sharing that graphic video for obvious reasons.

On Tuesday night, it was identified that the 18-year-old, who was a Temple Student and his name was Tyler Sabapthy, had died.

Temple University President John Fry released a statement on this tragedy.

“The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic,” Fry said. “The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic. There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing. Our hearts go out to Tyler’s family, friends, classmates and all who knew and loved him.”

Sabapathy was majoring in exercise and sport science, per Fry’s statement. He was on Temple’s club gymnastics team.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this young man.
