Saquon Barkley came very close to signing with the Chicago Bears during the 2024 NFL free agency period, the league’s leading rusher told reporters during Super Bowl Opening Night.
“Pretty damn close,” told the hundreds of media members. The Bears’ interest in Barkley last offseason was revealed during an episode of Hard Knocks, Offseason with the New York Giants.
Ultimately, Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and has haunted John Mara and the Giants ever-since. As for the Bears, it just wasn’t meant to be but to be fair, there was no chance Barkley would’ve had the same kind of success in Chicago as he has with the Philadelphia Eagles behind the best offensive line in football.
Barkley will try to lead the Eagles to their second Super Bowl on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
