REPORT: Vikings Are ‘Out’ on Aaron Rodgers And Are Committed To J.J. McCarthy As Starting QB

Aaron Rodgers will reportedly not be falling Brett Favre’s career-arch.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Vikings will move forward with J.J. McCarthy as their starting quarterback after declining multiple trade requests for him, shutting the door on Aaron Rodgers signing with Minnesota.

The news shouldn’t come as a shock, considering the Vikings selected the 22-year-old McCarthy with the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After missing his entire rookie season due to a knee injury, McCarthy is expected to be healthy and ready to go.

As for Rodgers, this now leaves three options – either sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers or New York Giants and continue your Hall of Fame career or retirement.
