Earlier this month, it was reported that the Minnesota Vikings will not be pursuing Aaron Rodgers and will be committed to moving forward with J.J. McCarthy as their starting quarterback.
But McCarthy hasn’t been told that yet. Appearing on Up & Adams with Kay Adams, McCarthy revealed that the Vikings have not told him that he’s their QB1 heading into 2025 and he’s “happy they didn’t” because he wants to earn the job.
This certainly won’t quiet the Rodgers to Vikings rumors and it’s interesting if the Vikings revisit Rodgers later in the offseason if he remains a free agent. The Vikings recently had former Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill in for a visit but that didn’t amount to a deal.
The Vikings are still in the lookout for a quarterback and it’s unknown if that’s a starting quarterback or a backup to J.J. McCarthy.
