After overhauling the Seahawks roster, general manager John Schneider is getting extension.
According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, the Seahawks are signing Schneider to a four-year extension, keeping him with the franchise through the 2030 NFL Draft.
Schneider has been the general manager of the Seahawks since 2010 and has been consistently able to build a winning football team in Seattle.
The Seahawks have endured just three losing seasons since Schneider’s arrival and have tallied ten playoff appearances. One of those appearances in the playoffs led to a Super Bowl victory over the Denver Broncos in 2013, and another Super Bowl appearance in 2015.
This offseason, Seattle went through a lot of change. Quarterback Geno Smith, who served as the starter for three seasons, was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Seahawks also moved on from wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
To replace Smith, Schneider brought in Sam Darnold in free agency and also signed Cooper Kupp to bolster the receiver room.
Heading into 2025, the Seahawks are in a position to compete for a playoff spot. As a result, the franchise rewarded its general manager with an extension that locks him up in Seattle for the next few years.
