You can’t blame Aaron Rodgers for getting pissed off at a teammate for this.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost 33-31 to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football as two 40-year-old quarterbacks battled it out with Joe Flacco getting the best of Rodgers.
Despite the loss, Rodgers played pretty well, throwing for 249 yards and four touchdowns. Down six points late in the fourth quarter, Rodgers threw a go-ahead 68-yard touchdown pass to tight end Pat Freiermuth. The veteran quarterback was so happy with the play that he broke out his joyous Mario celebration.
Unfortunately, that happiness was short-lived as Pittsburgh tackle Broderick Jones accidentally tackled Rodgers to the ground while celebrating with him. Rodgers was pissed, got up and appeared to yell at Jones as he shoved him away.
The Bengals did not sack Rodgers at all in the game and were only able to register two QB hits, so this was probably the hardest that the 41-year old took all night.
The fact the Bengals then marched right down the field and kicked a game-winning field goal probably didn’t help anyone feel better about how the celebration ended. The Steelers are now 4-2, while the Bengals are 3-4 and right back in the AFC North with two very winnable games coming up before their bye.
