Bill Belichick’s first season in Chapel Hill was a complete disaster and he’s making some big changes to his coaching staff because of it.
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN.com, Belichick has fired offensive offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens and special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer.
Kitchens was the interim coach for the Tar Heels and stayed on the coaching staff after belichick was hired last year. He was, also, previously, the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2019.
As for Mike Priefer, Belichick brought him to UNC after two decades in the NFL, and two years out of football. Priefer was a member of Kitchens’s staff in Cleveland.
Belichick will now embark on hiring two new coordinators as he preps for his second season at North Carolina. If the second is not a lot better than his first, there might not be a third year.
