The Miami Dolphins are making a big change.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are benching quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and will start rookie Quinn Ewers in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tagovailoa’s benching comes following the Dolphins (6-8) being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention following a 28-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football in Week 15.
Tagovailoa led Miami to a 6-8 record in 14 starts this season, completing 67.7% of his passes for 2,660 yards, 20 touchdowns and a league-high 15 interceptions.
Ewers, a seventh-round rookie out of Texas, completed 5 of 8 passes in his one regular-season appearance this season.
