The Kansas City Chiefs have informed administrative officials that they will announce their plans to move to Kansas on Monday, according to The Kansas City Star.
Lawmakers and the eight members of the Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council met today in the Kansas capital of Topeka and voted unanimously to approve a Chiefs stadium deal in Kansas.
The Chiefs have been playing at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri since 1972 but back in April of 2024, Jackson County voters rejected the 40-year extension of a local sales tax that would funded a new Royals Stadium and major renovations to Arrowhead.
Following the rejection, Kansas officials looked to see if they can get funding to make their own pitch to the Chiefs, who have now accepted it.
A new domed Chiefs stadium is reportedly estimated to cost around $3 billion, not accounting for any practice facilities.
