There are two remaining first round draft picks that have not signed their rookie contracts and ironically, they are the two quarterbacks that went in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick by the Raiders, and Ty Simpson, the No. 13 overall pick by the Rams, remain unsigned as both teams march towards training camp next month.
Both quarterbacks will eventually sign with their as it’s not a matter of if but a matter of when. Both quarterbacks are expected to sit and learn behind veteran starters with Mendoza behind Kirk Cousins and Simpson behind Stafford. Mendoza has a much greater chance to see the field first in 2026.
Despite not being signed to a contract, both quarterbacks took part in their team’s offseason activities but it’s something to monitor if training camp comes along and they remain unsigned.
