The Detroit Lions will be without two key defensive starters to begin training camp.
The team announced on Sunday that safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph have both been placed on the Physically Unable to Preform (PUP) list. In addition, tight end Tyler Conklin also lands on PUP.
Branch tore his Achilles last December and head coach Dan Campbell said back in June that Branch had no setbacks in his recovery but did declined to set a target date for his return to the field.
Joseph missed 11 games with a knee injury in 2025. Campbell said “I honestly do not know” when Joseph will be back when he gave his most recent update on the safety’s condition.
The Lions start their 2026 season on Sept. 13 at home against the New Orleans Saints.
