The Arizona Cardinals are not wasting time getting a look at their new rookie quarterback.
Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur announced Tuesday that Carson Beck will start in Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game against the Carolina Panthers.
Beck was selected by the Cardinals in the third-round (65th overall) out of Miami. He helped the Hurricanes get to the national title game, where they ended up losing to Indiana.
He spent six years in college, including the first five at Georgia, where he was the starter in his final three college seasons. In 55 career college games, he completed 69.5 percent of his passes, throwing for 11,725 yards, 88 TDs and 32 INTs.
It’s a big preseason for Carson Beck, who’s competing with Gardner Minshew for the backup quarterback job in Arizona. He will get his first chance to prove himself on Thursday night.
