The Indianapolis Colts and running back Jonathan Taylor have agreed on a two-year, $44 million contract extension that has a maximum value of $47 million, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.
The deal includes $39 million guaranteed, which is the third largest for a running back in NFL history.
Taylor’s deal was finalized two days after Atlanta Falcons star Bijan Robinson got his record-breaking contract. All eyes are on Detroit where Jahmyr Gibbs is next up to get his deal done.
Taylor is now under contract with the Colts through the 2028 season. He was entering the final year of the previous deal he signed in 2023, following a lengthy standoff and hold-in with the Colts that ultimately led to a three-year extension.
The 27-year-old Taylor was a second round pick by the Colts in 2020. He’s the franchise’s second-leading rusher with 7,598 yards on the ground, trailing only Hall of Famer Edgerrin James (9,226).
