The Buffalo Bills are set to open heir new Highmark Stadium in 2026, but fans have voiced their concerns about the number of apparent obstructed view seats at the new stadium.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the team said that it has heard from “less than one percent” of the Personal Seat License account holders regarding the concerns, but plans to address them on a “case-by-case basis.”
According to Florio, the Bills marketed the Personal Seat Licenses with a virtual venue model that displayed virtual images from each seat. The team said the images were “pretty representative” of what the view would look like from each seat.
A team spokesman also issued a statement to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg:
“Saturday’s practice was a great opportunity to test the new stadium. We are currently addressing internal and external feedback regarding the facility’s operation following the first event. We’ll utilize the next six weeks to refine any details as we prepare for the home opener on Thursday, Sept. 17.”
There are 17,000 Personal Seat License holders, each holding one or more seats in New Highmark Stadium.
Florio noted that some seats that have been pointed out as having obstructed views have not been sold for football games and won’t be. Those seats will instead be used for other events, like concerts.
Many fans got their first look at New Highmark Stadium on Saturday during the Blue & Red practice, which is when concerns arose.
“Thank you to Bills Mafia for setting a new attendance record with more than 50,000 fans at the Return of the Blue & Red,” the Bills said in a statement.
“Saturday’s practice was a great opportunity to test the new stadium. We are currently addressing internal and external feedback regarding the facility’s operation following the first event. We’ll utilize the next six weeks to refine any details as we prepare for the home opener on Thursday, September 17.”
The concern from fans is understandable, especially considering the new stadium cost an estimated $2.1 billion to build. It sounds as if the Bills are working to ensure fans can see the field from wherever they’re at when Buffalo has its first official game at the stadium.
