The Tennessee Titans are off to an 0-3 start to the NFL season and have lost five straight games dating back to 2025.
At the center of the struggles has been quarterback Cam Ward, who the Titans selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s shouldered a brunt of criticism due to his subpar play but some fans seem to have taken the criticism too far.
Ward’s sister, Chantel released a statement, blasting fans for crossing the line with their threats and harassment.
Chantel Ward took to social media to rip fans for overstepping boundaries. She says she receives threatening DMs weekly.
“The fact that I even have to post this is diabolical,” the note read. “After games, people come directly to my DMs on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with threats, hate, bullying, personal attacks, and disrespect towards me and my family – all over football.
“There are real people and real families on the other side of these screens… being passionate about your team does not give you permission to forget people’s humanity.”
That is the unfortunate side of social media. Fans, often nameless, will attack from behind an avatar. Anonymity provides a sense of invincibility. There are no repercussions.
Chantel Ward understands the passion that fans have for their sports teams. It does not give them the right to attack family members.
Ward has started 20 games for the Titans, going just 3-17 as a starter.
