The National Football League has demanded the Department of Homeland Security remove a social media post comparing legendary Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins’ greatest hits to immigration agents treatment of migrants.
DHS posted the video on their official X/Twitter account over a report that a “huge migrant caravan” was approaching the southern border of the United States.
“Our time has come,” the agency wrote, adding a video of Dawkins’ most violent on-field collisions.
Dawkins responded to the post to ESPN, saying that he had not given the agency permission to post the video:
“I have very respectfully not given permission,” the Hall of Fame safety wrote.
Dawkins then posted a vague response on Twitter/X saying he had not given permission for anyone to use his name, image and likeness:
The NFL said it requested the video’s removal:
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Back in March, the White House posted a video comparing NFL and NCAA football highlights with a video of airstrikes on Iranian targets.
Dawkins, one of the most physical defensive backs of his era, retired in 2012 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
