The Green Bay Packers have officially activated Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs to their 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s Week 7 rivalry game against the Detroit Lions.
The move clears the way for Jacobs, 28, to make his 2026 season debut at Ford Field following a six-week absence.
Jacobs missed the first six games of the regular season on the Commissioner’s Exempt List following a domestic violence incident in May. On October 10, he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges—battery and criminal damage to property. While the league removed him from the exempt list on October 19, the NFL’s personal conduct review remains ongoing, meaning future discipline could still be considered by the league.
The addition comes at a critical time for Green Bay’s offense. Through six weeks, the Packers’ rushing attack has struggled to generate consistent production, averaging just 59.8 rushing yards per game and 2.9 yards per carry.
n Jacobs’ absence, the Packers relied on a committee backfield featuring MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong, and Kaleb Johnson. While LaFleur has not officially confirmed whether Jacobs will handle a full workload right out of the gate, his presence provides a proven physical runner against a formidable Detroit front.
