Kyler Murray Ruled Out For MNF Game vs Bills, Carson Wentz To Start

The Minnesota Vikings are turning to backup Carson Wentz to start Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell announced Thursday that starter Kyler Murray is sidelined with a strained hamstring sustained late in last week’s loss to the Detroit Lions.

O’Connell clarified that Murray’s injury is week-to-week and a stint on injured reserve is not currently being considered.

However, the coaching staff opted against risking a more severe injury given Murray’s reliance on quick-twitch, dynamic movement.

Wentz, who is 4-3 in his appearances since signing in August 2025, has shown strong chemistry with star receiver Justin Jefferson, averaging over 87 yards per game to Jefferson across those seven contests.
