Behold, one of most bizarre moments in NFL post season history.
The Bills opened up the second half of Saturday’s Wildcard game by kicking off to the Texans in the most routine of routine plays…until Texans returner DeAndre Carter forgot the kneel.
Instead of officially touching the ball ‘down’, Carter tossed the ball to the referee, with the ref backing away from the ball as it was still technically live.
Buffalo scooped it up for the score.
After a review and discussion that included backup officials on site for reasons just like these, it was determined that the returner gave himself up by giving the ball to the referee, and it was deemed a touchback.
