Deshaun Watson is once again dealing with a troubling legal issue.
Watson has been sued for sexual assault and battery and the accusations are similar to the ones int he lawsuit filed by 20+ women in 2021.
Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing the alleged victim, had an update that could change things fairly soon. He revealed this week that he has a video that will be “pertinent” to this lawsuit.
“We intend to interview with the NFL in two weeks,” Buzbee said in a statement to ProFootballTalk. “This coming week however I have to go to the Coast Guard hearings in South Carolina regarding the Titan submersible implosion because I represent a victim’s family from that. When I return I intend to make my client available for interview along with two individuals who spoke to her immediately after the assault. I also have video to share that will be pertinent.”
The NFL has already announced that it’ll investigate Watson’s situation to determine if he violated the league’s personal conduct policy.
Two years ago, Watson settled 23 lawsuits that were field agents him. The lawsuit filed this week is not related to the active lawsuits from that same year. Watson, through his attorney Rusty Hardin, has already denied these allegations:
“Deshaun strongly denies the allegations in the Jane Doe lawsuit filed Monday,” Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, wrote earlier this week. “We have asked him not to comment further while this matter works its way through the courts, but are comfortable he will ultimately be vindicated. We will be ready to defend this case in court at the appropriate time, but don’t intend to conduct our defense in the media. We would ask that people be patient while the legal process runs its course.”
Watson struggled mightily in the Browns Week 1 loss against the Dallas Cowboys but will remain the starter for now.
