The son of Kansas City Chiefs coach Eric Bieniemy was booked into custody in the early morning hours on Sunday, just hours after police responded to a call that the Chiefs coach’s wife had been shot.
According Loudon County jail records, Bieniemy’s 27-year-old son, Elijah Bieniemy, was booked into custody at 2:41 a.m. on July 27. Police had responded to the home of Eric Bieniemy at close to 7:30 p.m. for a report that a woman had been shot.
The sheriff’s office said law enforcement responded to the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn, in the One Loudoun community, around 7:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting. Inside a residence, they found an adult female suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities have not named Mia Bieniemy as the victim, though multiple online news outlets have.
Bienemy worked as the Commanders’ offensive coordinator for the 2023 season. The Commanders’ headquarters and practice facility is in Ashburn, near where the shooting took place.
Eric Bieniemy was with the Chiefs earlier Sunday in Missouri for the team’s training camp, according to reports.
